Rename Item Number and Track Name Changes in D365

Introduction

This ‘Rename item number’ feature in D365 allows user to rename item number.

Once item number renamed, it will automatically be updated in all relevant records (purchase orders, sales orders …etc.) with new item number.

Users can also track the item number changes in Item number renaming logs.

RENAME ITEM NUMBER AND TRACK NAME CHANGES IN D365

First, we need to Enable ‘(Preview) Rename item number’ feature in Feature management, so this feature will be available in Product information management.

Go to Product information management > Products > Released products.

In released products, users need to select an item which needs to be renamed.

Click on General > Rename item number > Rename item number on action pane.

In New item number field, User need to give new item number and click on OK.

Users get notified as shown below and the user can view new name in item number field.

Click on Manage inventory > View > Transactions.

Here, users can view changed name in all transitions.

TRACK NAME CHANGES

Go to Product information management > Products > Released products.

Select item and Click on General > Rename item number > Item number renaming logs.

Here, users can view individual item name changes.

Rename item number’

Go to Product information management > Inquiries and reports > Item number renaming logs.

Here, users can view all renamed items with old and new names.

NOTE: –This feature available 10.0.42 or Later versions.
