Financial Tag Defaulting Rules in D365

Introduction
Financial tag defaulting rules feature allow users to define rules for various transactions to automatically set the default value of Financial Tags in D365.
This feature also extends to copy custom rules across the same and different legal entities.
First, we need to enable the (Preview) Financial tag defaulting rules feature in Feature management
Once this feature is enabled, Users can find the financial tag rules(preview) in General ledger > Chart of accounts > Financial tags > Financial tag rules(preview).
Here, users can find all the system rules as shown below and click on NEW to create a custom financial tag rule.
Creation of financial tag rule
- Go to General ledger > Chart of accounts > Financial tags > Financial tags.
2. Select +New to create a financial tag and create conditions accordingly as shown below.
- Transaction entry point – Area where transactions are recorded, Select the required entry point from drop down.
- Transaction level – Select the level where financial tags are located.
- Target – Select the required tag field from drop-down, which comes from financial tags.
- Once user selects Transaction entry point, Transaction level and Target, Name will be auto formulated in Name
- Enable, Enabled toggle button to enable rules.
- Enable, Overwrite existing valuetoggle button. For those rules, any values that the user or a system rule previously set are overwritten.
- Click on +New condition to create a condition
- Once conditions are defined click on OK as shown below.
- Once rule is created, users can find the rule in All rules(preview).
Copy financial tag rules
- Users can copy the created financial tag rules from one transaction entry point to another entry point in the same legal entity and same transaction entry point to other legal entities.
- Copy within legal entity– This option copies a rule that is defined for one transaction entry point to another entry point in the same legal entity.
- Users can select the required rule and click on copy > copy with legal entity in action pane
- In this page user can select (single/ multiple) required transaction type to copy the rule and click on next.
- Here, user can find the created rule which is not enabled and click on finish.
- Once rule is created, user will be notified, Can Find copied rule as shown below.
- Users need to click on the newly created(copied) rule to enable it.
- Click on edit and enable, Enabled toggle button to active this rule.
2. Copy to other legal entity– This option copies rules to any legal entity where financial tags are defined and active.
- Users need to select the required one or more rules and click on Copy > copy to other legal entity in action pane.
- Here, user can find legal entities which have financial tags, Select required destination legal entities and click on Next.
- Here, users can map the rule to tag that has a different name on the Mapping optionspage if there is a discrepancy in the tag name between legal entities and click on
- User can review selections and then select Finishto complete the copy process.
- Users can be notified about the rule copy as shown below.
- Users can go to the specified legal entity and go to General ledger > chart of accounts > financial tags > financial tag rules (preview) to view the copied rule.
- Users can click on Enabled toggle button to activate the rule.
Demo
- Go to General ledger > Journal entries > General journals.
- Click on +New and select journal name in name field, click on lines.
- Here, users add lines and give account and dimension(location) then as per default financial tag rule, tag values in financial tags field will be auto populated.
- After validating, click on post.
- Click on voucher to view voucher transactions.
- In voucher users can find auto generated tag values under region as per above given condition.
NOTE: –
- This (Preview) Financial tag defaulting rules feature available in 10.0.42 version
- Users cannot copy system rules to existing and other legal entities.
