Assign license power apps platform
Almost 70% of organizations believe that their data is not being used to its full potential. A few years ago, there was a lot of emphasis on the way data was captured. The problem we had then has been solved with the introduction of Power Platforms. With this emerging technology, organizations now have the power to access data and gain insights into business processes with ease.
Microsoft Power Platform is a combination of four products: Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Virtual Agents, and Microsoft PowerApps. When you are ready to use PowerApps in your organization, the first step is to license the Power Platform. Each type of license you choose unlocks different features and services.
In this article, we will teach you how to license the Power Apps Platform
What is Microsoft Power Apps?
Microsoft Power Apps is a low-code/no-code suite of apps, services, connectors and data platforms that allows building custom applications without writing code. With Power Apps, you can easily create apps that connect to your data and work across devices. Organizations can use Power Apps to automate business processes and improve productivity.
Power Apps enables the technical and non-developer community to use this platform to build apps, simplify their daily lives by automating business processes, and achieve more in their daily work activities. If they are able to achieve more, then ultimately, by the end of the day, they will be helping their organization achieve more and do more.
Types of Power Apps
There are two types of Power Apps:
Canvas Apps: Canvas apps start with a blank canvas and give developers the freedom to build their own app as they like. They can drag and drop components in any formation to design the user interface of the application.
Model-driven Apps: Model-driven apps start with a data model and predefined entities, dashboards, charts, views, and forms. With little or no code, you can customize these components to build apps that are simple or complex.
Types of Licenses
There are four types of PowerApps licenses:
Power Apps Nested License: The Power Apps nested license is included in the purchase of Dynamics 365 and Office 365. If your scenario only includes services like SharePoint, OneDrive, or Dynamics 365, you can take advantage of all the features of the nested license at no additional cost. This license type is best suited for businesses that use Power Apps in another application.
Power Apps per User License: The Power Apps per-user license allows a single user to work with an unlimited number of apps and portals in production. It allows users to access all the features including the premium connectors such as Microsoft Dataverse, formerly known as Common Data Service. Microsoft Dataverse is a cloud-based data service that securely stores and manages data used by business applications. This license type is best suited for businesses that needs one license for each user, regardless of how many apps they need to run.
Power Apps per App License: The Power Apps per app license is best suited for organizations that want to solve one business scenario at a time. i.e. you can create one app for each business scenario. For example, you can create a separate app for customer onboarding and another app for expense approval. With this license type, a single user can have more than one “per app” license if they require access to multiple solutions and each app can have multiple number of users.
Power Apps per App Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) Plan: The Power Apps per app pay-as-you-go plan is best suited for businesses that need an affordable way to use custom applications. This plan allows you to leverage all the features of Power Apps, including connectors, variables, expressions, and controls. With PAYG Plan you get the freedom to build an unlimited number of apps and run them in production. If you only need to use PowerApps for a short period of time, a monthly or annual subscription is available for purchase.
